Attendance & Punctuality

Stone Primary School is committed to supporting the children to achieve the best possible attendance, to enable every child to achieve their full potential.  There is a strong link between good school attendance and achieving a good education.  Children who frequently miss school may fall behind in their learning and development and we work closely with families to avoid this situation. We are proud of our children's good attendance at Stone but also remain determined to improve this further with your support.

How Stone Supports Attendance?

ATTENDANCE REWARDS
> Daily monitoring of registers and contact parents/carers
> Communications with parents regarding importance of school attendance
> Education on importance of attendance
> The '100% Attendance Club' – offering rewards and incentives to pupils achieving100% attendance across a whole term

HOLIDAYS
The headteacher will only grant a leave of absence to pupils during term time if they consider there to be 'exceptional circumstances'. In keeping with government guidance and the Local Authority advice, family holidays are unlikely to be authorised by Stone School during term time.

If you need to take your child out of school due to exceptional circumstances you will need to complete an APPLICATION FOR LEAVE OF ABSENCE REQUEST form which can be found in our Attendance Policy.

This policy meets the requirements of the working together to improve school attendance from the Department for Education (DfE), and refers to the DfE’s statutory guidance on school attendance parental responsibility measures.

If your child’s attendance for the year is:
95% = 10 days of learning have been missed ( 2 school weeks)
90% = 19 days of learning have been missed
85% = 29 days of learning have been missed
75% = 48 days of learning have been missed
70% = 57 days of learning have been missed
