PE & Sport
What Does PE Look Like at Stone C of E Combined School?
At Stone School, we follow the ‘Real PE’ Scheme. This scheme is a unique, child centered approach that transforms how we teach PE to engage and challenge every child in school. It provides fun and simple to follow Primary PE schemes of work and support for Early Years Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 practitioners that give them the confidence and skills to deliver understanding PE. It is fully aligned to the National Curriculum and Ofsted requirements and focuses on development of agility, balance and coordination, healthy competition and cooperative learning through unique leading approach to teaching and learning in PE.
In Class 5 we provide swimming instruction at Stoke Mandeville Stadium. In these sessions the children will be taught to:
- swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres
- use a range of strokes effectively (for example, front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke)
- perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations
